So you're looking for some money...

#1  One way to find a means for your research is to apply to the UW Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program. The deadline is in March of each year. If you have classes scheduled in the summer and can not fulfill a full-time commitment in the summer, you can apply to do your project over an entire school year.

#2  Other resources:

(1)           If your research will not be funded by SURF, ask your mentor for possible funding, or try other ideas listed below.

(2)           AADR Student Research Fellowships

(3)           State Dental Associations

(4)           Alumni Groups

(5)           Local Research Foundations

(6)           Dental-related Industry (Colgate, Procter & Gamble, etc.)

(7)           Local AADR Sections

(8)           National Institutes of Health (NIH)

*Note:  NIH has numerous programs to support student research.  For further information, refer to the NIDCR publication, “National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Training and Career Opportunities in the Dental Sciences”.  Dr. LeResche, our faculty advisor, is a great source of information on research funding for SRG members.

COS Funding Opportunities

Pilot Funding: The UW Comprehensive Center for Oral Health Research is funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to pursue its research theme, "Origins of oral health and disease susceptibility: A focus on the child as the key to lifelong health." Aside from funding for fourteen Center projects, a limited amount of funds are available for pilot projects which would lead to applications for additional external funding.
