Course Description:
Presentation
of new and advanced restorative and prosthodontic treatment
options in the rehabilitation of the edentulous/partially
edentulous patient.
Educational
Objectives:
Student will gain increased
knowledge in restorative and prosthetic dentistry by being
introduced to more advanced treatment options and techniques.
The objectives of the course are for the student to be able
to (1) understand the complex restorative/prosthodontic treatment
planning process with an emphasis on esthetics and oral function
(2) gain increased knowledge about indications for and the
use of ceramic materials in restorative/prosthetic dentistry
(3) understand the role and impact of dental implants in the
rehabilitation of edentulous/partially edentulous patients
(4) understand principles of and indications for tooth-and
implant-supported prosthodontics (5) gain knowledge about
current trends and future challenges in implant prosthodontics. |
Course Outline:
Lecture
topics include: Treatment Planning for the Partially Edentulous
Patient, Porcelain Laminate Veneers- Clinical Considerations,
Posts & Cores, Tooth-and Implant-Supported Prosthodontics,
All Ceramic Restorations- An Overview, Advanced Implantology
I, Implant Prosthodontics- Current Trends and Future Challenges
Course
Requirements:
Attendance
will be taken at each session. Attendance is a major consideration
for the final grade, and students are expected to attend all
lectures. A minimum of 80% attendance (7 of the 9 lectures)
will be required to receive credit for the course. Students
who miss more than 2 classes must take a final exam on which
a 70% grade must be achieved to receive credit.
Effective
Winter Quarter 2007, completion of on-line course evaluation
is a requirement of this course. Failure to comply will result
in an "Incomplete" grade being assigned.
