Scope of Practice
For over 50 years, the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Service has offered a consultation and tissue diagnostic and reporting service to the medical and dental communities and is currently serving nearly 900 practitioners and hospitals and surgical pathology laboratories throughout the Northwest region (including Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Utah).
Our affiliation with one of the top Dental Schools and Pathology Departments in the nation allows us to provide state of the art services including standard tissue processing and staining, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and immunocytochemistry.

Dr. Thomas H. Morton Jr. DDS, MSD
Dr. Morton received his D.D.S., from Creighton University in 1972, his M.S.D. in Oral Pathology from the University of Washington in 1975, and his Certificate in Oral Pathology from the University of Washington in 1976. He is a Professor in the Department of Oral Biology and the Department of Oral Medicine and is also Director of Community-based Oral Health Science Program.
Dr. Dolphine Oda BDS, MSc
Dr. Oda is the Professor of Oral Pathology in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Oda received her BDS Dental degree from the University of Baghdad in 1975 and MSc and a certificate in Surgical Pathology from the University of Manitoba, School of Medicine in 1981 and a certificate in Oral Pathology from Indiana University in 1984 and special training in Oral Pathology at the Armed Institute of Pathology in 1983. Dr. Oda's research is in the field of genetic and molecular changes in oral and GI carcinogenesis. She has over 60 manuscripts published in refereed journals.
