Dean's Monthly Communication – November/December 2006
CAMPAIGN UW: CREATING FUTURES (OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENT)
The University is committed to ensuring that low and lower middle-income students can afford to choose the UW. To ensure the UW remains affordable, beginning autumn quarter 2007, the Husky Promise guarantees that full tuition will be covered by grant or scholarship support if you are a low- or lower middle-income student and a Washington resident. More information about Husky Promise is available online: www.huskysmiles.washington.edu
Recognizing the importance of increased student support, the University of Washington has also announced Students First, a student scholarship matching initiative which will help fund the Husky Promise. All student recipients (undergrad, grad and professional) must show financial need as calculated through the information collected on the FAFSA.
Employees of the UW are eligible to participate in either or both of these matching programs. The University matches the principal, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 per donor. This effort is an effective way for UW faculty, staff and retirees to make a lasting gift to support students. For more information please contact Christina Harrison.

As the year draws to a close, we should take great pride in our collective accomplishments and for the new ventures ahead in 2007. Our common goals have resulted in tremendous steps forward for our school; our students, faculty, our staff and for our profession this year. Best wishes for happy holidays. - Martha
