CDC's Draft Recommended Infection Control Practices for Dentistry, 2003 is now available for public comment. This document will replace the CDC Recommended Infection Control Practices for Dentistry, 1993. The two-part document consolidates recommendations for the prevention and control of infectious diseases and management of occupational health and safety issues related to infection control in dental settings. The guideline is intended to assist dental health care personnel to prevent occupational exposures to bloodborne pathogens, infections associated with contaminated medical devices or surgical instruments, and to address other related safety and health issues.
The document is available on the CDC Division of Oral Health web site: www.cdc.gov/OralHealth/infection_control/guidelines/comments.htm.
