General Absence Policy
Professional students in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program are responsible for making arrangements directly with course directors regarding missed assignments or clinic sessions prior to any planned absence, or immediately upon returning to school in the case of unplanned absences such as illness. In cases of illness, you should email and/or make the attempt to call your instructors the same day if physically able. Be aware that missing classes and/or clinic sessions could jeopardize your academic standing, your clinic privileges, and your ability to graduate on time.
Although the Office of Student Services, Admissions, and Outreach is not authorized to excuse you from classes or clinic sessions, our office will send an email to course directors and departments alerting them to your absence. Contact the Office of Student Services, Admissions, and Outreach at (206) 685-9484. For students with clinical responsibilities, this notification will provide clinic personnel with the opportunity to make arrangements to cover or fill any scheduled clinic sessions. Please understand that in addition to the notice sent by our office, you will still be expected to contact your instructors directly.
