Dr. Douglas R. Verhoef, DDS

Education/Training

Dr. Verhoef received his B.S. (1969), and D.D.S. (1973), both from the University of Washington . He received a Certificate for Combined Prosthodontics Residency in 1990 from William Beaumont Army Medical Center . He has maintained certification with the American Board of Prosthodontics since 1991.

Research Interests

Dr. Verhoef has focused on the clinical application of new dental materials and techniques, particularly as they relate to the area of fixed prosthodontics.

Awards and Professional Service

Dr. Verhoef retired from the U.S. Army Dental Corps in 1998, with the rank of Colonel, after 22 years of active military service. He was awarded the Legion of Merit and was inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit.

Dr. Verhoef serves as the Director of Clinical Restorative Dentistry for 3 rd and 4 th year dental students, and has received four “outstanding teacher” awards. He currently serves as a member of the School of Dentistry Admissions Committee and Clinical Services Committee. He has been a reviewer for the editorial board of The Journal of Operative Dentistry since 2001. He is a Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists, and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

 

Personal Interests

Dr. Verhoef enjoys travel, home improvement, gardening, movies, and daily walks with his wife, Margaret, and his Schnauzer, Vinny.
