Keith Martin Phillips, DMD, MSD

Education/Training

Dr. Phillips received a B.S from Fitchburg State College in 1983. In 1987, he finished his D.M.D at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a GPR Certificate from the same institution in 1988. IN 1981 he received a certificate of Prosthodontics from the University of Washington, and an M.S.D in 1991, also from the University of Washington.

  • Restorative Dentsitry 588 – Masticatory Functional Analysis and Occlusal Adjustment
  • Restorative Dentistry 590 – Fundamentals of Fixed Prosthodontics
  • Restorative Dentistry 660 – Oral Rehabilitation

Research Interests

Dr. Phillips’ research interests lay in the area of dental implants, how to make them more comfortable, testing the fatigue loads able to be borne by the implants, restoration of implants and how to make implants last longer.

Awards and Professional Service:

Dr. Phillips is currently an Acting Assistant Professor at the University of Washington (appointed in 1996) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the University of Pennsylvania (appointed in 2000), in the departments of Restorative Dentistry at both Universities. Also at the University of Pennsylvania, he has held the positions of Clinical Instructor (1995-1996) and Assistant Professor and Professor (1992-1995).

In the past he has also held Hospital appointments at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center including Attending Staff (1992-1996), Consultant in the Center for Human Appearance (1992-1996), QA Chairman (1992-1995) and Chief of Restorative Dentistry (1994-1996).

Dr. Phillips holds memberships in the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, Seattle-King County Dental Association, American College of Prosthodontists, American Society of Osseointegration as a Fellow, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Pacific Coast Society of Prosthodontists, the Washington State Society of Prosthodontists and he is board eligible in the American Board of Prosthodontists.

Dr. Phillips has been awarded the Earle Banks Hoyt Award for Outstanding Full-time Junior Faculty Member at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine (1993), the Omicrcon Kappa Upsilon Academic Achievement Award (1985), the National Dean’s List (1986), admission into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (1987), the International College of Dentists’ Award for “Exemplifying the Principles of Professionalism and Ethics” (1987), admission into the Matthew Cryer Honor Society (1987), the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators Award (1987), the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award (1987) and the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award.

Dr. Phillips has been awarded grants by Steri-Oss and Ivoclar Co., as well as authoring several publications in his field.

Personal Interests:

Dr. Phillips has a great deal of interest in volunteer organizations and donates his time to the American Lung Association.
