Education/Training
Dr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1968), a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering (1977), a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1978), all from the University of Washington; and a Master of Science degree in Dental Materials from the University of Michigan (1983).

- Restorative Dentistry 530P, 531P, (Restorative Dentistry Clinical Lectures) 2 credit hours for each course. Provide four hours of clinically oriented lectures to third year students, covering topics in the Restorative Dentistry Clinical Reference pocket-guide.

Research Interests
Dr. Johnson is Professor and Director of the Division of Dental Materials Science in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. His research focus remains with laboratory and clinical evaluation of new restorative dental materials and techniques. He has authored numerous scientific and clinical articles in peer-reviewed journals
Awards and Professional Service:
Dr. Johnson maintains a private dental practice in north Seattle and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the International Association for Dental Research and the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics. Dr. Johnson is a past member and Chair of the ADA Council on Dental Materials, Instruments, and Equipment. He served as the Biomaterials Consultantfor the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry for 10 years, and is an Editorial Reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association, Reviewer for Dental Materials, and Consultant to the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs. He is a frequent presenter at scientific meetings and has held continuing dental education courses in and outside North America.
Personal Interests:
Dr. Johnson's personal interests include travel, classical music, hiking, skiing, fishing, and time away from the city with his family at their farmhouse in his hometown in southwest Washington.
