Y. Gabriela Ibarra, DDS, MS

Education/Training

Dr. Ibarra holds an equivalent Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City (1985), a Master in Public Health degree from the Escuela Nacional de Salud Publica de Mexico (1990), a Master of Science degree from the University of Iowa (2000), and a Certificate in Operative Dentistry from the University of Iowa (2000).

Dr. Ibarra teaches

• Restorative Dentistry 519 (Introduction to Operative Dentistry).
• Restorative Dentistry 520 (Introduction to Operative Dentistry).
• Restorative Dentistry 630P, 640P. Clinical supervision of third- and fourth-year dental students.

Research Interests

Dr. Ibarra is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. Her research focuses on the area of dental materials, mainly dental adhesives and composite resin and cariology.

Awards and Professional Service

Dr. Ibarra maintains an intramural dental practice at the UW and is a member of the Academy of Operative Dentistry, International Association for Dental Research, CAMBRA group and Mexican Dental Asociation. She has served as an Editorial Reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Oral Investigations.

Personal Interests

Dr. Ibarra's personal interests include travel, music and reading.
