Irena M. Baker, DDS, received her DDS from the University of Zagreb in 1980 and her Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Louisville in 1983. She taught full-time in Orthodontics at the University of Louisville for eight years before moving to Seattle in 1992, where she now teaches orthodontics to graduate residents and predoctoral dental students. Dr. Baker served as President of the Washington State Society of Orthodontists |
Michelle D. Brot, PhD., Affiliate Assistant Professor, received her BA in 1982 from Oberlin in psychology and her Phd from the University of Washington in 1992 specializing in behavioral neuroscience. |

B. Robert Cohanim, DDS, MS, received his DDS in 1988, his Orthodontics Certificate in 1990 and his MS in Craniofacial Biology in 1991, all from the University of Southern California. In 1995 he returned to the Seattle area, now maintaining a private practice in Seattle and teaching part-time in the graduate orthodontic program. |
David L. Crouch, DDS, MSD, received both his DDS 1978 and MSD 1984 from the UW. He was editor of the PCSO Bulletin 1987-91. A Diplomat of the ABO, he maintains a private practice in Puyallup. |

John M. Denny, DDS, MSD, Clinical Instructor. . DDS from the University of Washington in 1974; MSD and Certificate in Orthodontics from Temple University in 1987. A 30-year veteran of the USAF Dental Corps, Colonel (Ret) Denny chaired the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program at Wilford Hall Medical Center from 1999-2004. He is a diplomate of the ABO and teaches weekly seminars and clinic and is an orthodontic member of a group practice in Shorline, Washington. |

Ross J. Drangsholt, DDS, MSD graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1992 and completed his MSD and Certificate of Proficiency in Orthodontics in 1997 from the same institution in 1997. He is in private practice in Lakewood Washington. |
Mike R. Fey DDS, MSD received his degree in Pharmacy in 1971 and DDS from the UW in 1975 and a combined pediatric dentistry and Orthodontics in 1978. He is also the Graduate Clinic Director. His area of research is in Cephalometric Analysis in Down Syndrome. Currently he is helping set up the first dental school in Hanoi , Vietnam. |

Kristine A. Grey, DDS, MSD, completed her BS degree in combined science form Santa Clara University in 1993 and her dental degree from UOP in m1996 and MSD from the University of Washington in 1998. Her area of research is retention. She has been in practice for 5 years in Bothell with her father in Bothell. |
Roy Gunsolus received both his Undergraduate Degree in Biology and his Dental Degree from the University of Washington completing his DDS in 1969. He then spent 3 years in military service in Germany and returned for Graduate Training in Orthodontics at the University of California @ San Francisco, completing a degree in orthodontics in 1975. Has been in private orthodontic practice in North Seattle from 1976 to 2009 with experience in interdisciplinary and TMD associated orthodontic treatments in addition to traditional practice. |
W. Michael Hairfield, DDS, MSD, received his DDS from the UW in 1980 and his MSD from this institution in 1992. During a GPR at the University of North Carolina, he did research under an NIH physician-scientist award. Now in private practice, he joined the faculty to assist in teaching, particularly in the area of biomechanics. |

Stanton H. Hall, DDS, MS, PhD, received his DDS and MS in Oral Pathology from Northwestern University in 1967. He completed a PhD in Experimental Pathology at the UW and spent three years in research at NIH before entering the orthodontics program here. An ABO Diplomate, he has been on the orthodontics faculty since 1979, serves as associate staff of the UW Medical Center, and maintains two practices. |

John C. Ive, DDS, MSD, graduated from the UW in dentistry as well as in orthodontics in 1979. He is now an affiliate instructor in the Department and shares responsibility for the adult orthodontics program. He maintains a private practice and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. |

Vincent G. Kokich, DDS, MSD, recently retired from the half-time rank of Professor and has been appointed to the affiliate faculty at the same rank. He received his DDS 1971 and MSD 1974 from the UW. He has a private practice in Tacoma and is a Director of the American Board of Orthodontics. |
Samuel L. Lake, DDS, MSD graduated from the UW School of Dentistry in 1979 and was awarded a MSD and Certificate by the UW Ortho program in 1981. He maintains a private practice in Bellevue, is a Diplomate of the ABO and teaches part-time in the Graduate Orthodontics Clinic and seminars, with a particular interest in surgical orthodontics and practice management. |
Paola Leone, DDS, MSD, received her DDS from the University of Bari (Italy) in 1997 and her MSD in 2002 from St. Louis University. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor, co-directing the pre-doctoral orthodontic program. Paola also maintains her private practice in Lower Queen Ann (Seattle) with her husband Greg. |

Peter A. Shapiro, DDS, MSD, is a DDS graduate of Howard University 1970 and has an MSD and Certificate from the University of Washington. He is a former chair of the Department and an ABO Diplomate. Clinical: private practice. Research: craniofacial biology. |
Barbara L. Sheller, DDS, MSD, graduated with honors from the UW School of Dentistry in 1981. She completed the graduate program here in 1987, receiving an MSD and a Certificate in Orthodontics. She joined the faculty of Pediatric Dentistry in 1982 and has a joint appointment in Orthodontics since 1987. She is a staff orthodontist and pediatric dentist at Children's Hospital. |
Pramod K. Sinha, DDS, B.D.S., M.S., graduated from his Orthodontic program at Marquette University in 1991. He completed dental school in India (B.D.S., 1986) and at the University of Oklahoma (D.D.S., 1995). An ABO diplomate, he previously served as a full-time faculty member at the University of Oklahoma and currently serves as Commission Member for the DQAC. |
Ward M. Smalley, DDS, MSD, joined the faculty in 1987 after completing dental school, the Graduate Restorative program, and the Graduate Orthodontics program all at the UW. A part-time teacher in Graduate Orthodontics clinic and seminars, he specializes in the management of partially edentulous malocclusions and osseointegrated implants. |

David L.Turpin, DDS, MSD, is a graduate of the Universities of Iowa (DDS) and Washington (MSD), and has been on the faculty since 1971. He served on the Board of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists for ten years and was editor of the PCSO Bulletin. He was editor of The Angle Orthodontics from 1988-99 and is currently editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He is also a member of the AAO Board of Trustees. |
Allan L. Van Ness, DDS, MSD, received his DDS in 1966 from the University of Washington and his MSD in Orthodontics in 1973 from the same institution. His area of research was in Primate Center Growth Studies. He retired in 2008 from practices in Bothell and Monroe and looks forward to an increased teaching responsibility and clinical research. |
Gregory Vaughn, DDS, received his DDS from the University of Pacific(San Francisco) in 1999 and his Certificate in Orthodontics in 2001 from UCLA. Greg also maintains his private practice in Lower Queen Anne & Madison Park (Seattle) with his wife Paola Leone. |
Terry R. Wallen, DDS, MSD, received his dental degree from the UW in 1972 and his Master's in Orthodontics from the University of Kentucky in 1974. He shares responsibility for teaching in the surgical orthodontics program. His research interests include long-range assessment of mixed dentition diagnosis and treatment procedures. He has a private practice in Federal Way, and is an ABO Diplomate. |
Bryan J. Williams, DDS, MSD, MEd, is an Orthodontist and Pediatric Dentist currently practicing in Bellevue WA. Bryan received his dental degree from the University of Western Ontario in London Canada, his MSD and Certificates in Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry from the UW, as well as a Master's in Education. An ABO Diplomate, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Bryan teaches management of cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. |
