Background
Dr. Gratt serves as an Affiliate Instructor of Oral Radiology in the Department of Oral Medicine for the School of Dentistry. He received his undergraduate education at UC Berkeley and his dental training at UCLA. He received his radiology training at UCSF and at the University of Bergen, in Norway. Dr. Gratt is a UCLA Professor Emeritus and has served for more than 25 years on the dental faculties of UCSF, UCLA and UW.
Dr. Gratt has authored over 100 scientific peer reviewed manuscripts in the field of dental radiology. His main areas of research include: dental image analysis, dental xeroradiography, radiology quality assurance, facial telethermography, and chronic facial pain. Dr. Gratt is also a reviewer for 10 leading dental journals. He has conducted over 100 continuing education courses in the field of dental radiology. Dr. Gratt is a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral Radiology. He is a Diplomate and past President of the American Board of Oral & Maxillo-Facial Radiology. He has been an NIH, NIDR grantee and grant reviewer. In addition to his teaching and research efforts, Dr. Gratt currently conducts a private practice on Mercer Island, WA, limited to dental radiology.
