Course Description:
This course is designed to bring all general dental practitioners and specialists together to inform them of the most up-to-date information regarding oral implant reconstruction. International experts in periodontology, implantology, radiology, prosthodontics, biomaterials and oral and maxilliofacial surgery will present on the most current information.

Course Objectives - As a result of attending this course, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the potential short and long term risks involved with immediate placement of implants.
- Provide implant alternatives which minimize the need for bone graft augmentation.
- Use current imaging options for mandibular and maxillary implant planning.
- Understand the clinical results achieved using INFUSE® (rhBMP-2) as the donor material.
- Understand surface biology.
- Have a rear-view mirrored look at the impact of osseointegration on prosthodontic practice.
Distinguished Professor:
PHILLIP WORTHINGTON was born in England. He served in the Royal Air Force for two years and afterwards he gained degrees at the University of Liverpool in Human Anatomy (with Honors), Medicine and finally Dentistry (with Honors). He continued his education with specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Worthington also served as a consultant in the National Health Service for ten years. During those ten years, many American residents coming from programs in Houston, New Orleans, New York, Boston and Seattle trained with him in the UK. Dr. Worthington came to the University of Washington first as a visiting Associate Professor from 1973-1974. He then returned on a long term basis in January 1977. He was a member of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for thirty-two years, and spent eighteen of those years as Chairman. He is now Professor Emeritus, working part time.
