Course Description:

This participation course is designed to provide participants with steps in preparation, provisionaliztion and bonding porcelain using current information, technologies and products.

Longitudinal observations of porcelain veneers reveal an overwhelming success if the basic principles of bonding and minimal invasive procedure for the preservation of enamel are followed. In recent years, new and improved products have been introduced along with volumes of in-vitro and in-vivo information to enhance the esthetic and longevity of porcelain veneers. Having a practical knowledge of these developments allow us to increase the life expectancy and minimize unexpected and less desirable clinical outcomes, i.e., fracture, debonding and discoloration.

Topics to be Discussed:

  • Steps involved in bonding
  • Selection of dentinal adhesives for etched porcelain bonded restoration
  • Steps involved in shade modification
  • Steps involved in temporization

Hands-On Session:

  • Prepare a lock of six maxillary teeth for various types of porcelain veneers
  • Temporization
  • Bond porcelain veneers to prepared teeth
  • Custom shading for porcelain restorations

Course Objectives:

This hands on participation course is designed to provide participants with practical and clinical information on ceramic veneers. Emphasis will be placed on minimal tooth preparation while achieving more durable and predictable restorations using new products and well-tested technologies.

As a result of attending this course, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the concept of tooth preparation for ceramic veneers
  • Explain the latest methods for bonding of porcelain veneers
  • Provide predictable impressions and life-like provisionalizations for ceramic veneers
  • Perfect intra-oral shade modification
  • Improve intra-oral repair of esthetic restorations

Required Materials - Please bring the following items for participation in the lab portion of this course:

  • 1 - highspeed handpiece (6-line attachment in the D-1 lab)
  • 1 - curing light
