Course Description:

Crown lengthening procedures may involve osseous resective therapy in addition to surgical management of soft tissue. This course will utilize a plastic typodont to provide a practical exercise in exposing a fractured maxillary premolar. Techniques for incisions, periodontal flap management, osseous resection and suturing will be reviewed. The rationale for eliminating osseous deformities, obtaining a ferrule height and a biologic width will be presented. Indications and contraindications to surgical exposure will be discussed.
