Course Descriptions:
Ergonomics and Personal Health Concerns (4 hours)
Dental practice ergonomic concerns and strategies are discussed. Repetitive motion, awkward positions, and forceful traumatic movements may add up to lost careers. Causes, anatomy and prevention of various cumulative trauma disorders are linked with helpful hints and alternatives, including active participation in stretching and strengthening exercises that can be performed at work. Magnification, illumination and positioning are discussed, as well as health issues that impact susceptibility to ergonomic stresses.
OSHA Training 2008 - Working Smart, Saving Time and Lives (3 hours)
This course gives a perspective on disease transmission and emerging diseases, and trains employees to understand and manage occupational exposure to infectious disease and physical, biological, and chemical hazards. It emphasizes a team approach to office safety and patient protection. Participation is encouraged by using product samples to discuss alternative methods of meeting asepsis standards and by other active demonstrations.
Extensive handout includes a copy of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, updated OSHA forms, references and documentation for exposure incidents, first aid, and slide presentation.
