Course Description:

This course includes presentations of a range of implant treatment options that are available to patients. Clinical techniques will be highlighted to achieve aesthetic and functional results and maximize predictability.

Participants of the first day can also attend a second day laboratory hands-on course, which is limited to 30 participants.

Course Objectives - As a result of attending this course, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify a range of implant treatments available for partially and completely edentulous patients
  • Recognize different prosthetic designs for implant-supported restorations
  • Discuss restorative aspects of implant treatment, e.g., restorative material choice, impression protocols, distortion management
  • Evaluate the newest techniques in implant prosthodontic restorations
  • Explain the different principles of soft-tissue management around dental implants
  • Appreciate the advantages/disadvantages of different implant systems
  • Gain a better understanding of surgical techniques to enhance implant success

Instructors:

ALEXANDER SHOR received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine in 1997. He continued with specialty training and obtained a certificate in Prosthodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington in 2001. Dr. Shor served as an assistant director of the Graduate Prosthodontics program and maintains affiliate assistant professor position at the UW School of Dentistry. His full-time dental practice is limited to prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. Dr. Shor has special interests in the areas of tooth replacement, tooth wear and dental technology. He has given lectures and authored numerous publications on the subject of prosthodontics and dental technology.

RALF SCHULER holds a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in Dentistry from the University of Washington. He received his dental degree from the University of Erlangen/Nuernberg in Germany. Dr. Schuler is a former Clinical Assistant Professor of the University of Cologne and is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the UW School of Dentistry Department of Periodontics. Dr. Schuler has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectures both nationally and internationally on periodontic topics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Schuler maintains a private practice limited to periodontics and implant dentistry in Tukwila, Washington.
