Course Description:

The Philip Worthignton Lectureship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was created to bring distinguished scholars in the field of Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgery where new developments impact upon the practice of Oral and Maxilliofacial Surgery. This course will discuss the utilization of computer-based guided surgery in the management of fully and partially edentulous patients, ad single missing tooth applications using standard titanium implants and Zygomatic Implants.

Course Objectives - As a result of attending this course, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the fundamentals of CT scanning and NobelGuide computer-based treatment planning
  • Explore the applications of NobelGuide in the treatment of patients
  • Recognize how NobelGuide is used to fabricate the surgical guide
  • Explain the provisional prosthesis construction and the definitive prosthesis construction
  • Discuss the Zygomatic Implant and NobelGuide

Instructor:

BRENT ALLAN received his dental degree from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and his Master of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia. He is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in private practice in Perth, Western Australia and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Consultant to the Dental School at the University of Western Australia. His areas of study and research include advanced osseointegrated implant techniques, maxillofacial reconstruction, and use of computer-based guided surgery.
