Breaking News

39th Annual Ernest M. Jones Memorial Lectureship was held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at Meany Hall.  Dr. John C. Kois was the speaker and spoke on the topic of "New Challenges in Treatment Planning:  A Paradigm Shift."  950 people attended the popular lecture.  There was also a Dental Alumni Luncheon that drew 225 people.  Dean Martha Somerman gave the latest news from the School of Dentistry.

Farewell Lecture and Benefit will be held at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  The speakers will be Drs. Vincent G. Kokich, David P. Mathews, and Frank M. Spear.  This will be the last public appearance of this super lecture team.  The topic of the lecture will be, "Controversies in Interdisciplinary Dentistry:  Is Your Team Making the Correct Decisions?"  Proceeds from this final benefit lecture will help create a new endowment at the University of Washington School of Dentistry to help the faculty.  The endowment would support a new part-time teaching position, bringing an expert in faculty development and training to the School of Dentistry to provide ongoing workshops and one-on-one consultation for faculty.

What makes Drs. Vincent Kokich, David Mathews and Frank Spear one of dentistry's most popular lecture teams is simple:  They are great teachers.  That quality lies at the heart of a world-class institution like the UW School of Dentistry, and the lecturerswant to give faculty the resources to consistently share that standard of excellence.
